WHAT IS A SOUND BATH?
A sound bath is a an ancient healing and meditation practice that bathes your body in sonic waves emitting from quartz crystal bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, gongs and tuning forks. Sound baths are a po- tent antidote for city life. Join us Thursday, June 7 and immerse yourself in sound waves that will transport, recalibrate and ground you. Katie Down will lead the sound bath meditation. Yoga mats and blankets will be provided. In addition to the sound bath, we welcome everyone to take a class with herbalist Judith Pushett who will be shar- ing some tips on how to use herbs in your everyday life for healing and nourishing the body and mind. The NY Institute of Aromatic Studies will also be here to offer aromatherapy and an overview of the healing properties and uses of essential oils. Acupuncturist Yuuki Hirano will be here to provide gentle auricular acupuncture during the sound bath for all who are interested. Enjoy music by Erika Spring, Food by Cafe Mogador, raw chocolates and so much more. Buy Your Tickets now: https://newamsterdamschool.ticketleap.com/springawakening/ dates/Jun-07-2018_at_0700PM

WHAT KIND OF PARENT ARE YOU: CARPENTER OR GARDNER?
"There are two kinds of parents in modern America, says Alison Gopnik in her recent book, The Gardener and the Carpenter. The "carpenter" thinks that his or her child can be molded. "The idea is that if you just do the right things, get the right skills, read the right books, you're going to be able to shape your child into a particular kind of adult," she says. The "gardener," on the other hand, is less concerned about controlling who the child will become and instead provides a protected space to explore. The style is all about "creating a rich, nurturant but also variable, diverse, dynamic ecosystem." (...) Read more about it at https://n.pr/2LtgMo9
