MIXED-AGE KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

Come join our warm and supportive community by leading our third mixed-age kindergarten class! Our school is expanding, and this is a new class. Your class will have no more than 16 students from 3 to 6 years old and you will work with an assistant teacher to teach a full morning from 8:20am to 1:00pm.

The ideal candidate will have a Waldorf certificate and teaching experience. However, we will consider candidates who are still in training who have the recommendation of their training program.

Our school is located in the East Village of Manhattan, a unique and historical neighborhood. We are fortunate to have many large community gardens and one public park located within a few blocks of our campus, making outdoor excursions a daily experience. We have an especially beautiful school, and our parents describe New Amsterdam as an “oasis” in the city. We also have a vibrant and diverse faculty and parent community: our families and faculty speak over 15 different languages. Our community is committed to being a welcoming school to as diverse a population as possible, and to that end, through our SEE: Socially Equitable Education initiative, next year we will offer four scholarships in the first through third grades that cover 99% of a neighborhood student’s tuition and fees.

We began ten years ago with parent-child classes and, next year, we will add a fourth grade. We are a member of WECAN and we are an Associate Member of AWSNA.

Our salaries are competitive, as are our benefits. We offer:
- covered insurance,
- full cost for yearly conferences, and
- an outside mentor in addition to in-house weekly support.

NAS is a place for someone who might desire:
- a smaller class,
- a smaller faculty,
- freedom to develop curriculum with current teachers, and
- space to grow as a teacher,
